Niyiraha Berry, 23, of Baltimore, was charged with first-degree murder, Baltimore Police said March 27.

Police believe Berry shot and killed Denzel Brown near the 4000 block of Loch Raven Boulevard on Wednesday, March 6.

Officers responded around 5:45 p.m. and found Brown wounded from gunfire before rushing him to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives at the scene called in SWAT Team members after being informed that a potential suspect had entered a nearby home. No suspects were found at the time.

Berry was arrested by Warrant Apprehension detectives on Monday, March 25 at a home on the 8000 block of Greenspring Way.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe launched for Brown’s family had raised more than $7,300 before donations had been turned off. Proceeds were being used for memorial expenses and divided among his children.
